[14 Dec 2007|07:42am] KINETIC STRUCTURE My intentions for this kinetic structure was to to create two duelling faces. Inside the mouths of the structure was going to be a simple light transmitter. I bought the necessary components from Active Surplus for the simple light transmitter. My goal was to have the viewer stare into the mouths of the faces i created using plaster. The faces of the plaster were supposed to look grotesque, but i wanted to show that despite it's rought exterior, there is a light that shines within that transcends the physical aspects. I experienced quite a few setbacks during this process, the mouths of the faces didn't dry as i had planned and the green face cracked. I'm planning on working at it during the Christmas break. I'm not the best at this kind of medium,it's frustrating at times. but there's something about this project that makes me wanna keep at it. The wiring for the light source is a challenge and finding away to transmit the light from their mouth is an issue. What i'm planning to do is put the pieces beside each other on a blank wall and have the light source behind the masks and plugged into the wall.
